The College received a report that a registrant provided multiple medications to a patient on several occasions during their physical therapy sessions, which could, if proven, constitute professional misconduct. The Inquiry Committee is currently investigating the matter.
A panel of the Inquiry Committee was satisfied that there is a prima facie case of professional misconduct as well as a real risk to the public, which requires that the public be protected while the matter is being investigated.
Thus, the panel took extraordinary action and made an interim order, pursuant to section 35(1)(a) of the Health Professions Act to impose limits and conditions on Ms. Shah’s practice during the investigation. The limits or conditions came into effect on September 7, 2023, and are in place until the Inquiry Committee disposes of the matter, or if it issues a citation, then pending a hearing of the Discipline Committee.
The interim order is a public safety measure and does not indicate any wrongdoing. The public notice associated with this matter can be found on the Discipline & Other Public Notices page of the CPTBC website.
