On August 23, 2023, the College of Physical Therapists of British Columbia’s (CPTBC) Board of Directors approved amendments to the College’s bylaws that are subject to the notice requirements described in section 19(6.2) of the Health Professions Act.

Proposed Amendment:  To repeal Section 8 of the bylaws and replace it with the following

Terms of office

9.  (1)  The term of office for an elected board member is three (3) years commencing on the date of the first board meeting following that board member’s election.

(2)  An elected board member may serve a maximum of three (3) consecutive terms.

(3)  Despite subsection (1), the term of office for every elected board member who holds office on the date this subsection comes into force is extended by one year.

The College will be amalgamating with six other Colleges on June 28, 2024.  The College election cycle results in newly elected Board members taking office in June of each election year.   The proposed amendment extends the term of office of the elected College Board members for one year.  This will allow the elected board members whose term of office would expire on or about June 11, 2024 to continue until the date of amalgamation.

Notice to the public is published on the College website at
