Thank you to all registrants who provided comments on the amendments to the bylaws. The consultation period is closed. The Ministry of Health has filed the bylaws that will come into effect on March 27, 2020.
Many of the amendments are editorial and provide clarity.
Changes that are happening include the following:
- Elimination of the non-practising category of registration. Non-practising registrants will receive information about their registration options.
- Reinstated the grandparenting clause for physical therapists who were registered prior to the national examination becoming the standard for entry to practice, and who have continued practicing since that time outside of B.C.
- Recognized the examination process for graduates of Quebec programs that are deemed substantially similar to the national examination process administered by the Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators.
- Health professions corporations: Changes include the elimination of late renewal and the requirement for a certificate of solicitor as part of the application process for a health profession corporation.
