You have completed your physical therapy degree, are registered to practice and in good standing in another jurisdiction, and wish to take or teach a course in British Columbia which involves treatment of the public (including course participants) for less than one year.
For courses of less than four weeks in duration please submit to the College the documents listed below. For courses greater than four weeks please contact the College.
Courtesy registration is only granted for the duration of the course as requested in the letter of the applicant.
You must submit the following documents to the College – download by clicking on the links below:

Sign and date the form and have someone witness your signature.
- Proof of malpractice insurance in the amount of at least three million dollars ($3M CAD) per occurrence
The College will accept a copy of your private malpractice insurance certificate from your insurer. Further information about private malpractice insurance can be received by contacting the Canadian Physiotherapy Association at 1 800 387 8679 or Hub International Sinclair Cockburn at 1 800 328 7887.
- Authorization for Release of Regulatory Information Form from the current jurisdiction (Canadian or international) in which you are registered as a physical therapist
You must complete the top portion of the form and send it directly to the appropriate regulatory organization for completion. The College requires the original to be sent directly from the regulatory organization to the College.
- A letter of request stating the name and dates of the course you wish to attend
Please make your cheque or money order payable to the College of Physical Therapists of BC in Canadian funds (CAD) drawn from a Canadian bank. The College does not accept direct transfer of funds or credit card payments. The registration fee is non-refundable.
